It's that time again!

February 27, 2014

The 2014 Community Days is just around the corner and we are busy planning, working, fundraising & float building.  It takes the continuous effort of many volunteers and the financial backing from many businesses to put on this community event as well as to build & travel the float. If you or anyone you know would like to help in the planning &/or putting on of this event, we would be happy to have the assistance. We meet the 1st & 3rd Thursday of the month at 7:30pm, at the Solarity Credit Union building on North Wenas Road.

The Miss Selah Pageant will take place on April 26th at the Selah Civic Center from 7-9 P.M. The Community Days weekend events will begin as always on Thursday May 15th with the Hobo Feed at the Civic Center put on by the Covenant Church along with the Lyons Health Screening Trailer across the street in the Red Apple parking lot. Then on Friday the ‘Cruz Nite’ Car, Bike & Truck Show will be in Lince Field and the parking lot by the swimming pool while the Selah Chamber is hosting a potato extravaganza at the Civic Center. Saturday kicks off with the Kiwanis Pancake feed at the Civic Center followed by the parade then a full weekend of activities, entertainment & food at Wixson Park including Fireworks at 9:30pm. Sunday will again be Armed Forces Appreciation Day with a Veterans Honoring Ceremony and of course, the carnival will run the entire four days. If you would like information regarding advertising on the float trailer as it travels around please contact me.

Mission Statement

The SCDA purpose is to promote the Community of Selah and its quality of life to the Selah residents and to those residents of neighboring communities. The annual celebration, which takes place on the 3rd weekend in May, provides activities and events intended to create a positive interaction among the residents, businesses and various organizations of Selah. Through the events and activities of  Community Days; the Selah City Government, Selah merchants, organizations and various other groups are able to promote their programs and services.

The Association designs and builds a parade float which travels to many nearby communities representing/promoting Selah to many other communities. The Association also puts on a pageant, which is open to all Selah high school age girls(including home schoolers) where 3 Royalty & 1 alternate are selected. These girls travel with the float representing Selah in the above parades and also at many local & nearby community fundraisers and other functions.
